Dog friendly stay by the sea

Less than 1 metre from the sea, the only Coastguard Boathouse on Belfast Lough boasts its own slipway, with access to stretches of beach and the coastal path.

Once used to catch smugglers along the coast, this heritage building is a unique stay in a sea front location, overlooking Belfast Lough with stunning views for miles.

Lovingly renovated to retain many original features including the 18th century window, hooks, shelves and beams, you will experience part of Belfast’s maritime history. This self contained cottage has a fully fitted kitchen with Nespresso coffee machine, dining area, living room with pull out sofa bed and large bedroom with 2 double beds.

The outside patio area is perfect for enjoying the salty sea air on a summer’s evening, watching the ships on the water and enjoying those beautiful sunsets.

The Coastguard Boathouse is ideal for families of up to 2 adults and 3 children and your four-legged family members are welcome too!! With miles of beach at low tide, your family and pup can enjoy coastal walks and there are even local shipwrecks to explore!

If you enjoy wild swimming, this part of the lough is popular among local swimming clubs, with secret beach and waterfall nearby.

It's just 10 minutes drive into Belfast city for all the city has to offer- Titanic Belfast, Botanic Gardens, Ulster Museum and more! Or enjoy local walks in the countryside nearby including Cave Hill, Mossley Mill and Whiteabbey Glen.

Located at the gateway to the Causeway Coastal route, drive along the coast towards Blackhead Lighthouse and explore Carrickfergus. Take a day trip towards the Glens of Antrim, Game of Thrones territory and the North Coast.

Doggy guests are so well looked after with towels for sandy paws, a spare lead and treat pack. Human guests can enjoy chocolates and Tayto crisps on arrival.
